my recent profile

My profile posted on the IE Business School blog. You can find the post here.

I am Christian Del Rosso from Italy and an IE alumnus. A bit about myself:

I have a master in Computer Science from University of Bologna. After the University, I joined the Nokia Research Center, a multi-cultural world class environment, in Helsinki Finland. Moving from Italy to Finland was a great experience, very different culturally but I liked it there so much that I stayed for 6 years. After these years spent in software research, I wanted to do something different and move to a more business oriented role while still taking advantage of my technical background.

I wanted a 1 year world class MBA, I applied for the IE International MBA and I moved to Spain to have another very interesting experience. Students from all around the world, in a very nice place, Madrid. In the MBA I acquired the tools that I needed for a more comprehensive view on innovation, strategy management and in general how technology and business work together.

After the MBA I went back to Nokia in a different role, first in Helsinki and then the decision to move again and this time, in the USA, in the sunny San Diego California. I worked in the Nokia North America Product Management and Portfolio team.

After two years there, it was time to move again and challenge the corporate life. I moved back to Italy to begin my next adventure, starting a high-tech startup, Selfloops, with a very good friend.

With Selfloops we are creating a tracking fitness and sensor platform for athletes and sport enthusiasts. Our motto is “we can only improve what we measure” and our aim is to track and analyze the most important metrics during a training or a race to allow people to improve their performance. We have been testing our service with the Italian National Cycling Federation and a pro Italian cycling team. A lot of work ahead but with progresses and good achievements.

We have recently been selected for TechCrunch Italy, an important event for startups, for the first time in Europe, which has a global reach and visibility.

The event will take place in Rome September 27, 2012. Many startups applied and we are happy and proud to be among the 40 to have been selected. A special thank to Mind the Bridge Foundation, a non-profit initiative, with the goal to foster a sustainable Italian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

These experiences had a great impact on my evolution, different countries, different roles and many good friends met around the world. A lot of learning and mistakes along the way and a wonderful wife and two children. Anyway, the adventure continues..

Ciao!
